U.S. tech giant Microsoft has opened its first Japanese research and development center in Tokyo, focusing on combining robotics with artificial intelligence, with an inauguration ceremony taking place on Nov. 18, NHK reported. The R&D center, called Microsoft Research Asia Tokyo, is the latest in a series of technology labs Microsoft has opened around the world. The lab is understood to plan to focus on the application of so-called embodied AI in manufacturing, healthcare and other industries, and will also work with major Japanese companies and universities.
