According to the Financial Times, the United States, the European Union and the United Kingdom are all expected to sign the European Commission's AI standards agreement on September 5, the first legally binding international treaty on artificial intelligence. The convention, which was drafted by more than 50 countries over two years, including Canada, Israel, Japan and Australia, requires signatories to be responsible for any harmful and discriminatory results produced by AI systems, and also requires the output of such systems to respect the rights to equality and privacy, and requires victims of AI-related infringements to have legal recourse.
