Microsoft's appointment of new AI chief triggers top-level shuffle Parakhin is no longer head of Bing

Mikhail Parakhin, head of Microsoft's Bing and advertising businesses, is stepping down from those roles to look for a new position. A week ago, Microsoft appointedDeepMindThe company's co-founder Mustafa Suleyman is in charge of the consumer artificial intelligence (AI) business and has asked Parakhin to report to him.
Parakhin's exit marks the first top-level shuffle triggered by Chief Executive Officer Satya Nadella's appointment last week of Suleyman as head of a unified push for this business. Two people familiar with the matter said last week that the move showed Nadella was running out of patience with the progress of Parakhin's team. Bing has gained little head start against Google over the past year, and other products are still in development.
