Apple prepares to launch AI-assisted programming tool

Apple is set to launch an assisted programming tool similar to GitHub Copilot that uses generative AI to help supplement code completion. The tool will be introduced as part of the next major Xcode release, and Apple has been working on the project for a year and expects it to launch as soon as this year, with Apple announcing the new tool as early as WWDC, its developer conference in June. Microsoft's GitHub Copilot was launched in 2021 and generates code based on natural language queries.
