On March 30, Google announced that the latest Gemini AI flagship model, Gemini 2.5 Pro, will be free to all Gemini app users. Previously, the experimental model was limited to Gemini Advanced subscribers. Google released Gemini 2.5 Pro earlier this week, calling it "the smartest AI model" to date, with further enhancements in reasoning capabilities over its predecessor. The new version of the model supports a number of features, including app and browser extensions, file uploads, and integration with Google's Canvas collaboration tool. Previously, Gemini 2.5 Pro was only available to Gemini Advanced subscribers who paid a monthly subscription fee of $19.99 (about Rs. 145). Google said it decided to make the experimental version free for all Gemini users to "get the smartest model available to as many people as possible as soon as possible". Gemini 2.5 Pro is now available on the Gemini website, and the Gemini app for Android and iOS will be available in the coming days. Recent updates to the app have also improved the user experience, making it easier for users to select and remember which Gemini model they are currently using.
