Stability AI is finally bringing its generative AI technology to text and video content DiscordOn the platform.
The new Stable Artisan Discord robot service was officially launched today. Users can use the Discord robot to generate images using Stable Diffusion3 (SD3) and Stable Video Diffusion (SVD). This move means that users can more easily use the Discord interface to generate images and videos, which is different from the competitor Midjourney's Gen AI image service.firstAlready available when unveiled.
Stability AI previously provided developers with access to the core Stable Diffusion model through an API. The core model weights are also available on HuggingFace. Until February 22 of this year, Stable Diffusion was also available through the Clipdrop web service, which has now been acquired by Gen AI startup Jasper. Stable Video is still available through Stability AI's StVideo.com website.
“The initial rollout of Stable Artisan will give us a chance to monitor user behavior and validate that the current Discord bot functionality and operation is up to our standards, and then we’ll start adding more features,” Christian Laforte, co-founder and CTO of Stability AI, told VentureBeat.
Stable Artisan is a paid service.firstA 3-day free trial is available. The service has multiple packages, with the Standard package costing $9 and providing 900 credits per month, and the Advanced package costing $99 and providing 1,200 credits per month. Stability AI's API uses a point system to determine the value of image generation, with an SD3 image costing 6.5 credits, while a generation using the old but still reliable Stable Diffusion image core model costs 3 credits. Videos are priced at 20 credits per generation.
To use Stable Artisan, users can create an account on the Stability AI website and then join the company's Discord server to get started, LaForte said. Stability AI has also launched a membership system, which was announced at the end of 2023. LaForte said that the Stable Artisan service is not currently linked to the Stability AI membership system.
Stable Artisan is not just about basic image generation, it also has some editing and customization capabilities, similar to the Clipdrop web service previously operated by Stability.
Features of the service include:
- Search and Replace: This inpainting service allows users to identify objects in an image using simple language prompts. The identified objects are automatically segmented and replaced with the object specified in the prompt, without the need for masks.
- Background removal: This function removes the background while retaining the foreground content.
- Creative Upscaling: Users can upscale low-resolution or low-quality images to 4K resolution.
- Extend Outline: The Extend Outline service extends the content of an image by inserting additional elements in any direction, seamlessly filling the expanded space.
- Control Sketch: This enables users to transform rough hand-drawn sketches into high-quality images with precise control.
- Control Structure: This feature allows the user to generate images while maintaining the structure of the input image.
While the new Stable Artisan service provides a convenient way for many users to access Stability AI’s image generation models, there are still more features coming. First, at today’s point in time, Stable Artisan does not yet provide access to Stable Audio. Last month, Stability AI launched Stable Audio2., which is currently available through the API and the StableAudio.com website. In addition, Stability AI also has several other models for code and text generation, including Stable Code and Stable LM, both of which are also not available on Stable Artisan.
However, Stability AI is working on a larger interactive chatbot project called Stable Assistant, which was announced in beta last month when SD3 was launched. Stable Assistant is a friendly web-based chatbot that uses Stability AI's text-to-image and large language model (LLM) technologies to assist users with various tasks through natural language conversations. "They are both actively developed applications at Stability AI that meet the needs of different groups of users," said Raft.
