According to foreign media reports,SamsungSamsung Electronics' medical device divisionMedisonThe French artificial intelligence startup, based in Paris, announced on Wednesday that it would acquire the company for $92.7 million.SonioThe acquisition aims to inject advanced AI technology into Samsung's ultrasound imaging equipment.
Founded in 2020, Sonio is committed to developing artificial intelligence software for ultrasound workflows. Its flagship product, Sonio Detect, uses deep learning algorithms to improve the quality of ultrasound scan images in real time and has obtained 510(k) certification from the US FDA. The company's AI assistant system can also help obstetricians and gynecologists evaluate and record ultrasound examination results.
Samsung Medison said Sonio's software will help it bring better AI-driven imaging workflow solutions to the market. After the acquisition, Sonio will continue to operate as an independent company in France, responsible for product development and service provision.
Industry analysts believe that this transaction reflects that Samsung is stepping up its efforts to expand into the field of medical AI. By integrating Sonio's advanced technology, Samsung Medison is expected to achieve breakthroughs in key areas such as prenatal ultrasound diagnosis.

Previously, Sonio had raised $27.2 million in financing from institutions including Cross Border Impact Ventures and Elaia. The acquisition transaction is expected to further promote the innovative development of French AI startups in the field of healthcare.
