Midjourney There are many differences between Midjourney and ChatGPT in the use of prompts. This chapter will introduce the differences between Midjourney's text prompts in detail.
grammar
First of all, Midjourney basically doesn't understand grammar, so even if your grammar is wrong, as long as the words are correct, it can generate images.
In addition, not understanding grammar also leads to another problem: the longer the prompt, the better. In particular, it does not understand various attributive clauses at all. It is better to separate the instructions with commas and enter them one by one. The following are the official grammar suggestions:
- Use adjective + noun word order to replace prepositional phrases. hair flowing in the wind should be changed to flowing hair a carrot for a nose should be changed to carrot nose
- Replace prepositional phrases with very specific verbs. a girl with a flashlight should be changed to a girl using a flashlighta girl with a big smile on her face should be changed to smiling girl
Finally, Midjourney is not case sensitive.
word
In terms of words, Midjourney is somewhat similar to ChatGPT, and it does not understand synonyms very well. For example, here are two examples:
- How big does the word big really mean? The more specific the word is, the better it works for Midjourney. For example, gigantic is better than the general word big.
- The word cats is plural, but how many cats? For Midjourney, two cats is more specific than cats.
In addition, Midjourney can use emojis instead of words (I think emojis are also words in essence), which is a more interesting feature.
Rather than saying what you don't want, say what you want
This is similar to ChatGPT. You should clearly state what you want instead of telling Midjourney not to generate something. If you want Midjourney not to generate something, you need to use the parameter — no.
If you don't tell me, the model will give you a random
Because the amount of information in images far exceeds that in text, Midjourney often fills in some random content for you, which is both a defect and a highlight feature. Because when you don't specify these words in the prompt, you can get divergent results.
If you want to reduce these randomness, you need to use some prompt frameworks (or so-called templates). This tutorial will teach you this framework from the shallower to the deeper.
parameter
Midjourney is also different from ChatGPT in that it allows you to add parameters to the prompt, and these parameters are relatively consistent, so if the function you want to implement is supported by the parameters, use the parameters first instead of describing it in the body. You will learn how to make good use of parameters in subsequent tutorials.
In addition, please note that the images generated by this tutorial are of version V5 by default, so I did not add the v5 parameter in the prompt.
