Market research agency Gartner recently released a report that in early 2023 businessessoftware engineerless than 10% using AI code assistants.However, it is predicted to reach 75% by 2028.
Gartner surveyed 598 leading organizations globally in Q3 2023 and found that 63% of organizations are currently trialling, deploying or have deployed an AI code assistant.
AI code assistants not only generate and complete code according to the programmer's requirements, but also play the role of collaborative assistants to improve developer efficiency by stimulating brainstorming and improving code quality, thus enabling developers to continuously improve their skills and become proficient in various programming frameworks.
AI code assistants provide assisted functionality that improves job satisfaction and retention, resulting in cost savings associated with turnover.
Philip Walsh, senior principal analyst at Gartner, said:
Software engineering leaders are expanding AI CodeWhen assistants are used at scale, it is important to determine ROI and build a business case. However, traditional ROI frameworks direct engineering leaders toward metrics centered on cost reduction, a narrow perspective that fails to capture the full value of AI code assistants.
