SamsungIn an interview with CNBC last month, Won-joon Choi, executive vice president of mobile business, revealed that Samsung is considering a virtual assistant for its Bixby Add Generative AI functionality similar to ChatGPT.
Won-joon Choi said, "With the emergence of generative AI and large language modeling (LLM) technologies, theI think we have to redefine the role of Bixby so that it can be equipped with generative AI technology and become even smarter in the future. "
It's been a long time since Bixby launched, and while Samsung is currently busy adding its various apps and services to "Galaxy AI" feature, but no such capability has been added for Bixby.
Samsung has yet to share more details about how it will integrate generative AI into Bixby, and it's unclear if Bixby will morph into a full-fledged conversational AI chatbot like ChatGPT.
Previously, Samsung had said that Bixby will coexist with its Galaxy AI features on smartphones. The company mentioned at CES 2024 that the AI will help SmartThings and Bixby work together.
