As part of the investment agreement, Amazon received a minority stake in Anthropic and was able to participate in setting the company's direction.Additionally, Amazon is incorporating Anthropic's models into the Amazon Bedrock service, a fully managed service from Amazon Cloud Technologies (AWS) that helps developers integrate generative AI capabilities into their applications and services.
Another important aspect of the agreement is that Anthropic will use Trainium and Inferentia chips to train and deploy its models on the AWS cloud. Anthropic will also work with Amazon to advance the future of Trainium and Inferentia technology.
Generative AI is known to consume a lot of power, and Trainium and Inferentia chips are Amazon's technologies to address this challenge.Trainium is designed to train generative AI models, saving up to 50% in training costs compared to a comparably sized Amazon EC2 instance. The Inferentia chip helps models generate inference faster and at lower cost, with a price/performance improvement of 40%.

"
Anthropic's close partnership with Amazon will allow the AI startup to work more securely. Funding and resources are major challenges for many AI startups, many of which have sought to partner with large tech companies like Microsoft and Amazon for a more sustainable path to growth.
