Advances in AI technology are revolutionizing experiences, and Amazon is continually introducing new features that significantly improve the customer shopping experience in stores and the sellers’ success in building a thriving business. One focus is helping sellers more easily create high-quality product pages.
In the past, creating product pages required a lot of effort from sellers to develop and enter accurate and comprehensive product details across numerous attributes to build engaging product descriptions that would attract the right customers. Now, Amazon is making it easier for sellers to do this by converting existing product pages on other websites into rich product listings suitable for Amazon stores with significantly less effort.
Last fall, Amazon embarked on a journey designed to significantly reduce sellers' workload while helping them create higher-quality product pages. Amazon said that initially sellers only need to provide us with a few words to describe their products, and we will use generative AI to create engaging product titles, descriptions, and other product details. Subsequently, sellers only need to upload pictures of their products to use generative AI to automatically generate product titles, descriptions, and even more product attributes. These features can also provide recommended attributes, such as colors and keywords, to help effectively compile products into customer search experiences. Although it is still in its infancy, more than 100,000 Amazon sellers have used one or more of our generative AI listing tools. We always encourage sellers to review the generated product details before submitting them to the store. At present, the vast majority of AI-generated listings have been submitted, and sellers accept close to 80% of the recommended attributes, with only a few edits required.
Amazon has compared AI-generated content to non-AI-generated content and found improvements in clarity, accuracy, and detail, which can increase product discoverability when searching within Amazon stores. Sellers say this saves them time so they can focus more on developing quality products, which is especially valuable for small businesses and customers.
Generative AI has the power to simplify the work sellers need to do to create great product listings, and we will continue to innovate on these capabilities. As the range of attributes we automatically generate expands and the quality of the generated content further improves, we will continue to reduce the work sellers need to do to create engaging product detail pages that resonate with customers.
However, some sellers have expressed that their products are already listed on their own direct-to-consumer (DTC) websites. So, in addition to generating a listing using a small amount of text or an image, a new feature is now available that allows sellers to simply provide Amazon a URL, which will be automatically parsed by our generative AI capabilities to seamlessly create high-quality, engaging listings for the Amazon Store. This will further enhance and simplify the process of creating product listings, saving sellers even more time and effort, while developing Amazon Store listings that attract customers and drive sales. This new feature is starting to roll out now and will be available to US sellers in the coming weeks. We’re excited about the way these new innovations are built and hosted, which leverage some of the powerful foundational models in AWS, making them easily accessible through Amazon Bedrock, and enabling sellers to create high-quality, engaging listings for Amazon Stores.mostSatisfy the needs of Amazon's sellers and customers.
The generative AI tools Amazon has deployed so far continue to learn and evolve, and we are excited about the adoption by sellers and the quality of AI-generated content we have seen. Across the business, Amazon is actively developing powerful new AI tools and capabilities, and we are even more optimistic about their future capabilities and positive impact.
As more sellers leverage technology to enhance their own product listing experience, Amazon will provide them with increasingly relevant results, reducing seller workload while increasing the effectiveness of generated listings.
