TencentHoldings today announced its fourth quarter and full year financial report for 2023 ending December 31, with various data showing different growth trends.
In the fourth quarter, Tencent Holdings' revenue reached 155.2 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7%.
From the data of each business segment in the fourth quarter, the revenue of value-added services was 69.1 billion yuan, a slight decline from the same period last year, a decrease of 2%. Among the value-added services, the revenue of international games was 13.9 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 1%; the revenue of local games was 27 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 3%; the revenue of social networks was 28.2 billion yuan, also a year-on-year decrease of 2%.
Tencent's R&D investment for the whole year of 2023 reached 64.078 billion yuan. Since its launch in September last year, Tencent Hunyuan has developed into a leading basic model. Tencent Hunyuan's functions continue to expand, including Wenshengtu and Wenshengvideo, etc., and it has been internally tested in more than 400 businesses, and has launched AI assistant services in Tencent Conference and Tencent Docs.
In addition, online advertising revenue reached 29.8 billion yuan in the fourth quarter, a year-on-year increase of 21%, showing a strong growth momentum. Financial technology and enterprise service business revenue also achieved a year-on-year increase of 15%, reaching 54.4 billion yuan.
In terms of operating data, as of December 31, 2023, the number of monthly active accounts of WeChat and WeChat combined reached 1.343 billion, a year-on-year increase of 2%, showing its strong user base. However, the number of monthly active accounts of QQ mobile terminals declined, down 3% year-on-year to 554 million. At the same time, the number of registered accounts for paid value-added services achieved a year-on-year increase of 6%, reaching 248 million.
It is worth mentioning that the number of paid video members reached 117 million, and the number of paid music members also reached 107 million. Both data show Tencent's continued leading position in the content payment field.
