Artificial Intelligence Startups Anthropic today announced the launch of its breakthrough Claude 3 series of models, the seriesLarge Language Models (LLM) sets new performance benchmarks on a variety of cognitive tasks.The Claude 3 family consists of three submodels, Claude 3 Haiku, Claude 3 Sonnet, and Claude 3 Opus, which offer varying degrees of intelligence, speed, and cost options to meet a wide range of AI application requirements.
According to officials.Opus, the flagship model of the Claude 3 series, outperforms OpenAI GPT-4 and Google Gemini 1.0 Ultra in undergraduate and graduate level knowledge, math, and complex task understanding.In addition, all Claude 3 models specialize in analytics, prediction, detailed content creation and multilingual dialog. The Claude 3 family of models is optimized for real-time interaction, designed to enhance features such as real-time chat, autocompletion, and data extraction. The fastest and most cost-effective of these models, Claude 3 Haiku, can process information-intensive research papers containing graphs and charts in less than 3 seconds; Claude 3 Sonnet, with its increased intelligence, processes twice as fast as previous models, making it ideal for knowledge retrieval and sales automation; and Opus, with processing speeds comparable to those of Claude 2 and 2.1, has a much higher level of intelligence. Opus has similar processing speeds to Claude 2 and 2.1, but with a much higher level of intelligence.
The Claude 3 Series models also have visual capabilities comparable to other leading modelsThe Claude 3 Opus surpasses even the GPT-4V and the Gemini 1.0 Ultra in some categories.
Anthropic also mentions that Opus, Sonnet, and Haiku are less likely to refuse to answer prompt words that are close to the system's security limitations than their predecessor models.
In terms of context window size, the Claude 3 series of models will offer a 200,000 token context window at launch, and all three models are capable of accepting inputs in excess of 1,000,000 tokens, with Anthropic likely to add support for larger context windows in the future.
Opus and Sonnet are now integrated into Anthropic's Claude.ai Sonnet is also available in 159 countries and in the Claude API, with Haiku coming soon. Sonnet is also available through Amazon Cloud Tech's Bedrock service and in private preview channels in Google Cloud's Vertex AI Model Garden, with Opus and Haiku coming soon to both platforms.
