Technology companies have been working to make AI models less burdensome for users to read long documents. Adobe has launched PDF AI to help users quickly understand large reports, and Copilot After being able to analyze OneDrive files and answer related questions, Copilot has welcomed a new feature: directly dragging and dropping files to ask questions.
This feature was first discovered by whistleblower Leopeva64. Users only need to drag and drop files into Copilot's chat window, and the AI assistant will read the content. Afterwards, users can ask Copilot questions, such as asking it to summarize the key points of the document, find specific data, or provide information about the topic. However, this feature does not seem to be open to all users yet.
There's a reason why tech companies are focusing on summarizing long texts with AI, because this type of task is exactly what AI is good at. For example, OpenAI's ChatGPT can quickly process a lot of information and condense it into a few key points. Therefore, it makes sense to apply this feature to hundreds of pages of reports that users don't want to spend hours reading. As AI-powered personal computers gradually come to market, in the future we may no longer have to read documents word by word, but just ask AI assistants questions.
