Recently, Match executives talked about the company's AI plans during the company's fourth-quarter earnings report, noting that this year, the app developer will use AI technology to evolve existing products and develop new ones. The company's shareholder letter explained how AI can help improve various aspects of the dating app experience. For example, AI can help with profile creation, and Match is testing features like an AI-driven photo selector and generative AI to help craft profiles. The company said AI will also improve its matching capabilities and post-match guidance, including conversation starters, prompts, and providing dating suggestions.
Match also suggested it will use AI to build standalone AI applications, with plans to begin testing those applications in 2024. A centralized innovation team will work on integrating AI into Match's application portfolio and incubating new ideas, some of which will be done by the Hyperconnect team that Match acquired. When asked whether Match would use OpenAI technology in its broad AI initiatives, a Match representative declined to answer.
However, the company has said they plan to invest $20 million to $30 million in AI innovation by 2024.
