According to the Wall Street Journal,OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has set an ambitious AI Chipsplan,The goal is to raise trillions of dollars to transform the global semiconductor industry and promote general artificial intelligence (AGI)develop.
Citing the Wall Street Journal, Altman is in talks with investors including the UAE government to secure more funding for its AI chip project.
Altman's goal is to increase global chip production and enhance artificial intelligence capabilities, and it is estimated that up to $7 trillion will be needed to implement the project.
Altman said the original intention of raising funds to promote the project was to help OpenAI break free from the hardware constraints of its current development and alleviate the shortage of AI chips for training artificial intelligence systems such as ChatGPT.
AGI, also known as strong AI or human-level AI, can be generally understood as an intelligent agent that can learn and take reasonable actions in any environment. In simple terms, it is an intelligent system that is human-like in both its inner qualities and performance (rather than being limited to a specific field like weak AI or machine learning algorithms).
Founded in 2015, OpenAI is a nonprofit research organization that has raised more than $14 billion from investors including Microsoft, Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, and Founders Fund.
OpenAI's main product is ChatGPT, a conversational AI model that can generate natural language responses to a variety of queries and tasks.
