IKEA AI assistant is the first AI assistant in GPT StorefirstAn interactive experience launched by IKEA. With the IKEA AI assistant, users can:

  • Use GPT to express their specific home design needs and receive customized recommendations. For example, "Show me a cozy living room layout for a small apartment using sustainable materials."
  • Browse IKEA's vast catalogue of thousands of products, from minimalist designs to art collections, and check their availability at different locations.
  • Get design inspiration, real home renovation stories and advice from home experts from the IKEA global community.

Francesco Marzoni, Chief Data & Analytics Officer (CDAO), explained: “We take a pragmatic, execution-based approach, learning by doing, leveraging the Responsible AI framework we established early on. We have initiated a broad ecosystem of partners to enable multiple experiments so that we can participate in the evolution of AI while shaping company strategy.”

Currently, the IKEA AI assistant is only available to GPT Plus users in the U.S. IKEA plans to roll it out to more markets where ChatGPT is available this year, bringing its Nordic design inspiration and recommendations to more users.
