March 1, 2013 - OpenAI executives said during Discord office hours yesterday that it plans to eventually bring its AI Video Generation Tools Sora Direct integration into chatbots ChatGPT middle.
According to 1AI, Sora is only available through OpenAI's dedicated web app, launched last December, which allows users to use it to generate short videos of up to 20 seconds in length. However, Rohan Sahai, Sora's head of product, said OpenAI plans to push Sora to more platforms and expand its authoring capabilities.
OpenAI initially marketed Sora to creative workers and video production companies in a targeted way, starting with a pre-launch campaign last December. Now, the company is stepping up its efforts to make its AI video creation tool appeal to a broader user base.
Sahai said OpenAI is actively working on integrating Sora into ChatGPT, but did not disclose a specific go-live date. The version of Sora that will eventually be integrated into ChatGPT may not offer the same high level of editorial control as the web app version, such as editing and splicing videos.
Sahai mentioned in the session that the reason OpenAI (previously) launched Sora as a standalone web app was toKeeping ChatGPT Simple.
Since its release, OpenAI has continued to expand Sora's web experience by adding more ways for users to browse community-generated videos, and Sahai also revealed that OpenAI"Would love" to have a standalone mobile app for Sora!and that the Sora team is looking for mobile development engineers.
OpenAI also plans to extend Sora's generative capabilities to image generation. sahai confirmed that OpenAI is developing a new generation system powered by the Sora-driven AI image generatorChatGPT has already supported the generation of images through OpenAI's DALL-E 3 model. While ChatGPT already supports image generation via OpenAI's DALL-E 3 model, the Sora-driven image generator has the potential to allow users toCreate more realistic photos.
Sahai also added that OpenAI is working on an upgraded version of Sora -- theSora Turbo.
