February 8 news.OpenAI Co-founder John Schulman left artificial intelligence startup last week Anthropic, who has been with the company for just five months. According to Fortune, he's joining former OpenAI CTO Mira Murati's mysterious new company.
It's unclear exactly what Shulman's role will be in the new company. Fortune was not able to obtain that information, and Mulati has been tight-lipped about the startup since she left OpenAI in September of last year. However, sources tell us that Mulati has recruited a number of former OpenAI employees, including Christian Gibson, who worked on OpenAI's supercomputing team.
Last October, Mulati was rumored to be seeking more than $100 million (note: currently around Rs 729 million) in funding for his company.
Schulman, who left OpenAI for Anthropic last August as one of the main architects of ChatGPT, said on the social media platform X thatThis decision stems from his desire to focus more deeply on AI alignment -- the science of making sure AI works as intended -- and to engage in more technical work.
