January 15 news.OpenAI CEO Sam Altman (Sam AltmanAI may be diminishing the importance of "raw intellect", it said.
In a recent episode of the ReThinking podcast, Altman, in conversation with organizational psychologist Adam Grant, mentioned, "In the future, we'll still value a certain kind of competence, but it won't be the raw intelligence that it once was.The ability to ask the right questions will be more important than the ability to find the answers." Grant seems to agree with Altman, stating, "I think people who can connect the dots and recognize patterns will have an advantage."
Notably, Altman emphasizes the significance of learning how to ask important questions that stimulate the thinking process and thus help solve complex problems.
1AI notes that a report last year stated that one of the main complaints from Microsoft's AI department was that Copilot didn't perform as well as ChatGPT, to which Microsoft was quick to rebut, saying that the problem was that users lacked proper Prompt Engineering skills. A Microsoft employee said that the quality of Copilot's responses depends on how users design their prompts or questions. To that end, Microsoft has provided Copilot users with a series of videos to help them improve their prompt engineering skills.
Altman also shared his vision for the way work will be done in the age of AI in the podcast, "My greatest professional joy comes from solving problems through creative reasoning and finding answers like never before. I anticipate that in the future we will tackle difficult problems in a whole new way."
