1AI consulted public information and attached the following technical definition of general artificial intelligence (AGI): it refers to a hypothetical machine intelligence that is capable of understanding or learning any intellectual task that can be performed by a human being, and is designed to mimic the cognitive abilities of the human brain, with a broader range of adaptive and learning capabilities, and that can perform a wide range of tasks without specialized training.
And according to a secret pact between Microsoft and OpenAI in 2023, which ties the realization of AGI to profitability, an AI system developed by OpenAI will be considered to have achieved AGI when it reaches a profit of $100 billion (note: currently about Rs. 730.286 billion).
Microsoft has invested more than $13 billion in OpenAI over the years, an investment that comes with a special agreement: once AGI is realized, OpenAI will be "freed" from it and Microsoft will stop using any new technology developed subsequently by OpenAI.
The media outlet sees the side agreement as a means of preventing the over-centralization of power once AGI is achieved, though at this stage it limits OpenAI's ability to raise capital and be competitive.
The two companies are renegotiating the terms of the partnership as OpenAI plans to transform itself into a for-profit company, and OpenAI may terminate Microsoft's exclusive cloud hosting services, stop profit-sharing, and instead give Microsoft a direct equity stake in the company.
