December 27th.OpenAI The AI server "tripped" again, and the system service disruption started at around 2:30 a.m. Beijing time on December 27th.Impact ChatGPT Chatbot, Sora video generation model, and some API calls.
1AI's check of OpenAI's company status page shows that the company issued a news release at 3:00 a.m. Beijing time today, saying that ChatGPT, the API, and its text-to-video generator Sora are "currently experiencing a high rate of errors".
OpenAI then updated its status at 6:05 a.m. Beijing time today, announcing that "ChatGPT has been partially recovered," but that the chat history still won't load, and that fixes are still in progress, with no clear timeline for when it will be fully restored.
As for the cause of the outage, OpenAI didn't specify, saying only that "the problem was caused by an upstream provider. Microsoft Azure, OpenAI's exclusive cloud service provider, also reported a "power" problem in its data center today, so it's safe to assume that a power failure in Microsoft's data center is the culprit.
This ChatGPT service outage is not an isolated case, as there have been several similar incidents over the past few months. Earlier this month, ChatGPT and Sora were out of service for several hours shortly after OpenAI released the Sora video generation tool to ChatGPT subscribers.
