Silicon ValleyStartups d-Matrix announced Tuesday that its first artificial intelligencechipbegan shipping, aiming to offer services such as chatbots and video generation.
d-Matrix has raised more than $160 million (currently about RMB 1.158 billion) to date, includingMicrosoftinvestment from the venture capital arm. Early customers are testing sample chips and full shipments are expected next year, the company said.
Santa Clara, California-based d-Matrix didn't name specific customers, but said Super Micro Computer will sell servers with d-Matrix chips.
d-Matrix aims to complement AI chip giants like NVIDIA. NVIDIA's chips are used to train AI systems on large amounts of data. Once the system is trained, theThe d-Matrix chip is designed to handle a large number of requests from end users, a step known as inference.
d-Matrix's chips are specifically designed to handle requests from a large number of users simultaneously on a single chip, even as those users continue to make new requests or adjust video generation requirements to the AI system.
