November 19th.IBM The Company made an announcement yesterday, November 18, announcing a partnership with the AMD The company has entered into a partnership and plans to build on IBM CloudDeploying the AMD Instinct™ MI300X particle gas pedalservice (accelerators as a service).
The service is expected to launch in the first half of 2025 with the goal of improving performance and energy efficiency for enterprise customers in generative AI modeling and high-performance computing (HPC) applications.
Through this partnership, IBM said it is also integrating MI300X gas pedals with its watsonx AI and data platform, as well as AI inference support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL distribution).
IBM Cloud will offer the AMD Instinct MI300X gas pedal to support enterprise customers with compute-intensive workloads.
Citing a press release, the MI300X gas pedal, with 192GB of High Bandwidth Memory (HBM3), is capable of supporting the inference and fine-tuning of large models, helping customers run larger models with fewer GPUs and reduce inference costs.
The two companies will also leverage the security and compliance capabilities of the IBM Cloud to support enterprise customers across industries, especially those that are heavily regulated.
