According to NHK, US tech giantMicrosoftOpened its TokyoJapanThe first R&D center.Specializing in bringingRoboticsIntegration with Artificial IntelligenceThe inauguration ceremony was held on November 18th.
The R&D center, called Microsoft Research Asia Tokyo, is the latest in a series of technology labs Microsoft has opened around the world.
It is understood thatThe lab plans to focus on so-called embodied AI in manufacturing, healthcare and other industriesIt will also collaborate with major Japanese companies and universities.
Microsoft said the company was impressed with Japan's expertise in robotics.
Peter Lee, Director of Microsoft Research, said, "Japan's expertise in robotics is one of the most important reasons for us to establish a research lab here. As a result, we feel both hopeful and optimistic about establishing a research lab in Japan, a country at the forefront of robotics, and believe it will help us better advance our research on embodied AI."
Microsoft is one of several U.S. tech giants investing in research and development bases and data centers in Japan, with others including Oracle and Amazon Web Services.
