Googleannounced that its AI-powered flood warning model has expanded its coverage to 100 countries, reaching 700 million people living in high-risk areas around the world, making it a significant expansion in scope from its previous coverage of 80 countries and 460 million people.
Through Flood Hub, Google Search and Google Maps.Residents of affected areas can receive critical warning information up to seven days before flooding occursGoogle Maps will also offer practical suggestions such as avoiding certain areas and can report on road closures to help users make more informed decisions.
Google will also open up APIs to researchers and first responders to help them more accurately predict future flood events using real-time and historical data, dating back to 1981.
