Musk's social media platform X(formerly Twitter) appears to be preparing to make the previously paid subscriber-only AI Chatbot Grok Free and open to as many users as possible.

In addition, a user account must be registered for at least 7 days and a cell phone number must be tied to the account in order to use the free version of Grok.
xAI launched its Grok-2 model with image generation capabilities in August and added image understanding capabilities to it last month. These features were previously limited to paid subscribers of X. By opening up Grok for free, xAI may be aiming to expand its user base and speed up the product feedback loop to better compete with other AI models on the market, such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini.
xAI was in talks last month to raise billions of dollars at a valuation of $40 billion (currently around Rs 287,704 crore), according to the Wall Street Journal.
