At the ALL THINGS OPEN 2024 conference at the end of this month.open source organization Open Source Initiative (OSI) Official ReleaseOpen SourceArtificial Intelligence Definition (OSAID) version 1.0.Marking the birth of the world's first open source AI standard.
Founded in 1998, OSI is a global non-profit organization that defines and "manages" all things open source.
The OSAID standard was designed by more than 25 organizations.The standard, which includes Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Meta, Intel, Samsung, the Mozilla Foundation, the Linux Foundation, the Apache Software Foundation, and others, can help verify whether an AI system can be considered open source AI.
According to OSAID 1.0, open source AI systems should empower users:
- Use the system for any purpose without requesting permission;
- Study how the system works and examine its components;
- Modify the system for any purpose, including changing its output;
- Share the system for others to use, with or without modifications, for any purpose.
