Googlereleased the State of DevOps 2024 report on October 23rd.Weighing in excess of 75%Developersand IT professionals rely on Artificial Intelligence (AI) to handle at least 1 daily professional task.
Google Cloud's DevOps Research and Assessment (DORA) team surveyed nearly 3,000 technology professionals around the world, indicating that more and more are using AI technologies.

- 76% of respondents reported relying on AI for tasks such as code writing, information summarization, and code interpretation
- 81% of respondents indicated that they have shifted technology resources to develop artificial intelligence at their companies
- At least 67% of people say that AI is helping them improve their code, boosting workflow, productivity, job satisfaction, code quality, and internal documentation quality.
- Document quality improved 7.5%
- Code quality improved by 3.4%
- Code review speed increased by 3.1%
- Enhancement of approval speed of 1.3%
- Code complexity reduced by 1.8%
- 25% of companies are making specialized strategic investments to build AI capabilities and are expected to grow beyond 20% in the next six months.
- Increasingly, organizations tend to leverage in-house data and small, customized language models, focusing on efficiency rather than mere computing power.
Despite the productivity gains brought about by AI, the study shows that AI adoption may lead to software delivery performance degradation, with an estimated 1.51 TP3T reduction in delivery throughput and 7.21 TP3T reduction in delivery stability.
