October 25, 2010 - On October 23rd, local time, the SCSP (Special Competitive Studies Project)AI + Robotics Summit in Washington, D.C. Renowneddirector (film etc)James Cameron delivers a video message.
James Cameron doesn't consider himself a researcher or an expert in the field of AI, but rather a storyteller with a strong interest in AI and robotics. He plans to apply AI to "storytelling" and hopes to revitalize the CGI revolution, just as he led it.cinematicBoundaries of production technology.
About 32 years ago, James Cameron founded the first all-digital visual effects company, driving the widespread use of CGI (note: computer-generated imagery) technology in filmmaking.
- In the field of art, AI can assist artists in creating new and innovative works.Providing new ways of expression;
- In storytelling, AI can help writers, directorsExplore new story lines, and narrative devices;
- In science, AI can be used toProcessing and analyzing large amounts of data, accelerating the research process;
- And in the field of exploration, robotics canHelping mankind reach previously inaccessible places, both deep sea and space, can be explored like never before.
James Cameron said that humans no longer just makeThe machine that executes the commandInstead, it is in the design that canAutonomous learning, adaptation, decision makingsystems. They can be given physical forms such as wheeled vehicles, drones, etc., to serve as vehicles for AI decision engines to perform tasks in the real world.
However, Cameron also has his own concerns about Artificial General Intelligence (AGI): How can AGI be expected to understand and abide by the rules if humans themselves can't reach a consensus on "what is good and what is bad"? If AGI development reflects negative human traits such as prejudice, discrimination, conflict, and evil, it could lead to serious problems.
It's worth noting that on September 24th, generative AI company Stability announced that James Cameron had joined Stability AI's board of directors.
