ElonMuskof artificial intelligence (AI) companies xA officially released its application programming interface (API), allowingDevelopersWill Grok Integration into other applications.
Musk made the announcement on Monday and simultaneously posted a link to the interface on the xAI website. Previously, Musk had confirmed plans to provide an API for Grok in August and open-sourced the software's weights in March.
To view and use the API, users must log into their xAI account and select "Request Access" in their profile settings to request access to PromptIDE and the API. currently, there is only one model of the API, called "grok-beta", which costs $5 per million input tokens (currently around RMB 35.6) and $15 per million output tokens (currently around RMB 107). The API also allows the user to perform function calls so that Grok can be integrated with databases, search engines and other external software tools.
Musk and xAI launched Grok, the company's first product, last November, and the Grok 1.5V visual processing model in April of this year.
In May, a filing revealed that xAI raised $6 billion in a Series B round of funding, after Musk denied reports in January that the company was planning to raise money. Musk also spoke in July about Tesla potentially investing in xAI, but noted that such an investment would require shareholder approval.
