According to soranews24, 26 famous Japanese artists, including Hirokazu Yamadera, Ryusei Nakao, Jun Fukuyama, and Hajimevoice actorrecently launched a joint protest against the unauthorized AI VoiceGeneration techniques.
The voice actors formed a coalition called No More Mudan Seisei AI, and according to representative Ryusei Nakao, "I'm shocked that someone is selling my voice without permission." Several other voice actors have also protested this and issued a call for no more unauthorized AI voice generation.
Meanwhile, agency Aoni Production and AI voice platform CoeFont recently announced a partnership to create AI replicas of their voices using the voice data of 10 voice actors.
This event focuses on the copyright issues raised by AI generation, in particular the situation where voice actors' voices are being used for AI training, publicized, and even sold without their consent. The organizers emphasize that this not only undermines the rights of voice actors, but also poses a threat to the future of the performing arts: while we agree on the benefits of new technologies, we want to understand each other, discuss the future direction of culture, and think together about how to use technology appropriately.
