Mental health startups Yung Sidekick has secured $825,000 in pre-seed funding to develop an artificial intelligence platform for mental health professionals. The platform captures audio of a therapist's session and automatically generates a recording, from which the AI can extract progress notes and detailed treatment reports that can be used in electronic health records in less than 2 minutes.
The goal of the Yung Sidekick platform is to reduce the administrative burden on psychologists, allowing them to devote more time to meaningful interactions with clients. Stanley Efrem, co-founder of the company, said, "Every minute spent on paperwork means one less minute spent on patient care."

The company said this new pre-seedFinancingwill enable the company to accelerate its product development and roll out new features that will streamline monitoring, assessment and client interactions. For example, the company is launching an AI assistant that therapists can use to counsel clients. The AI can quote what a client has said during a session or remind the therapist of specific details about their personal experience or treatment plan.
Yung Sidekick CEO and co-founder Michael Redd said the company plans to roll out more patient-centered features, such as AI-powered customer chats, to create a more comprehensive and effective treatment experience for both sides of the process.
The platform is compliant with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, no personal health information or client details are stored, every report and note generated is anonymized, and all recordings are deleted immediately after processing. For therapists who prefer not to record sessions, there is also a "Dictation Review" feature.
