Microsoftof AI Chatbot Copilot Now you can create at any time AI SongsThe new plugin, which is available on Discord, is thanks to a new plugin partnership with Suno, a Cambridge-based AI music startup that offers a tool to create an original song, including lyrics, based on textual prompts.
Now, Copilot users will be able to use Suno through the Microsoft Chatbot.To start making music, Copilot users simply need to sign in to their account and enable the Suno plugin, or click on the logo labeled "Make Music with Suno.
Users then need to come up with a simple one- or two-sentence text prompt describing the song they want, such as "Create a folk song about an Alaskan summer" or "Create a song about cats in the style of Cat Power" ( These are text prompts I've personally tried on Suno via Discord), and then enter them in Copilot.Suno will generate an original song, usually a minute or two in length, with a transcript of the lyrics attached.
In addition to Suno, other big tech companies are testing generative AI music tools, such as Meta's open-source software AudioCraft, which also generates songs based on text cues, and Google's YouTube tool, which generates original music based on hummed songs or text cues.
In addition to Suno, a number of AI music startups promising similar tools have entered the market, such as Soundful, Magenta, Beatbox (which generates beats and instrumental tracks), Soundraw, Loudly, Boomy, Beatoven.ai, and more.
Suno prohibits free users from commercializing generated AI songs on YouTube or Spotify, but it offers paid users the right to use the songs commercially. However, wannabe behind-the-scenes songwriters need to be aware that Suno owns the copyright to any songs generated by free users, but allows sharing on social platforms or other non-commercial uses.
