Canva will offer a selection of premium apps for Pro and above subscribers, creating new monetization opportunities for developers. The company has also created a $50 million Developer Innovation Fund to reward developers who participate in the monetization program based on app usage. Apps will be integrated into various functional areas of the platform, such as Text, Elements and Photo Editor, to increase visibility and usability. At the same time, users will be able to translate the app content into the desired language to enhance the internationalization experience.
With the update, eligible developers will be able to add advanced features to their apps through the Premium App Program and will be paid based on participation, and Canva will also translate app content for free to help developers engage their global user base. Additionally apps will now be displayed alongside Canva's own editing tools in the platform's Text tab, Elements tab, Image Editor, Canva Documentation and more. This will make it easier for users to find the apps most relevant to their work.
On the API front, Canva has introduced new features such as the Content Query API, Design Edit API (in beta), Authentication API and Forms API. These APIs will allow developers to create more powerful and flexible applications.
Canva's innovations in the design tool space are expected to bring richer and more powerful creative experiences to users, while providing more opportunities for developers to work together to advance the design tool ecosystem.
