September 26th.OpenAI Mira Mulati, Chief Technology Officer (Mira Murati) said on Wednesday, local time, that she was leaving the company after six and a half years and thanked the entire OpenAI team, including co-founder and CEO Sam Altman and president Greg Brockman.
"After much deliberation, I have made the difficult decision to leave OpenAI", she added, "Leaving this beloved place feels like the best choice at this moment".
She also wrote, "I chose to leave because I wanted to find the time and space for self-discovery. For now, my priority is to do everything I can to ensure a smooth transition and continue the momentum we have built."
This comes on the heels of OpenAI co-founder Ilya Sutskever and former head of security Jan Reich announcing their departures in May, and co-founder John Schulman saying last month that he would be leaving the company and joining Anthropic.
Mulati rose to prominence last November when OpenAI's board of directors abruptly removed CEO Sam Altman and appointed Mulati as interim CEO. A few days later, Altmann returned to the company and Mulati was reinstated as CTO.
This comes on the heels of news that OpenAI, one of the fastest rising companies in history, is currently in the midst of a funding round. The round will value the company at more than $150 billion, according to people familiar with the matter(currently about RMB 1.05 trillion).
