Tech media outlet The Decoder published a blog post yesterday, September 12, reporting that during the recent "Office Hours" event, the company was able to get the word out about its newest product, "Office Hours".Midjourney Founder and CEO David Holz shared an update on the current project and answered questions from the community at Discord.
Midjourney version 7.0
Holz has updated the Midjourney 7.0 release schedule to say that it will be released in the next 1-2 months.
Let more people experience Midjourney
Holz says the company isn't rushing to launch new AI models, but rather to improve the ease of use of its existing technology and allow the tools to become deeply integrated into the daily work of professionals.
Today, all users, including those who wish to experience Image AI for free, can do so through the web interface.
New Image Editor
Midjourney is also currently working on an image editor that will allow users to edit external images with smudging and expanding features.
It is uncertain whether this feature will be integrated into existing platforms or launched as a standalone product. A specific timeline for this feature has not been announced.
3D Systems
Holz introduced a more ambitious project in which Midjourney is developing a 3D system that allows users to virtually immerse themselves in AI imagery.
Instead of using polygon rendering, NeRFs or Gaussian Jet, they created a new "NeRF-like" format.
The team is led by a figure who played a key role in the invention of NeRF, which has led some to speculate that it could be former Nvidia researcher Alex Evans, who joined Midjourney last year.
Personalized Style
Personalization is also among the new features of Midjourney. The tool is designed to provide deeper insight into user preferences based on user feedback, providing more personalized results. Midjourney has recently enabled this feature for Niji models that specialize in anime characters.
Explore other areas
Midjourney seems to be busy with a number of developments. In addition to image generation results, the company also plans to venture into video generation.Midjourney is not only investing in software, but also actively laying out hardware development.
