He took to social media platforms X to announce, "At the end of an amazing journey building #Her at @OpenAI, I've decided to start a new company."

Prior to OpenAI, he joined Meta's (ex-Facebook) AI lab in Paris, where he got his PhD in computer science (the French CIFRE program allows candidates to complete their PhDs in private research labs).
His research interests cover a wide range of areas such as deep learning for natural language processing, text representation with neural networks, natural language understanding, sequence-to-sequence learning, neural machine translation, and cross-language understanding of low-resource languages.
In 2021, Connor jumped from Meta to Google as a research scientist on the BERT / PaLM team, focusing on multimodal language modeling and self-supervised learning research for unified text and speech understanding.
But after only one year at Google, he returned to Meta to work on building Meta's version of the 'Her' project.
In April 2023, Connor was poached by OpenAI and also brought the vision for "Her" to OpenAI - it was he who created and led the research for the first version of OpenAI's version of "Her" from zero.
