Midjourney Considered by many early AI enthusiasts as the "king" of AI text-to-image generation and image editing. However, Midjourney's market position is being challenged with the rise of competitors like Elon Musk's xAI and its Grok2 chatbot, and the newly launched Ideogram2 image generator, Flux.
In the face of competitive threats, Midjourney has finally come up with some exciting news: their official website is finally open to all users, offering them 25 free AI image generation credits per day.
Previously, Midjourney has been limited to the Discord platform, and last year it launched an "alpha" site, limiting access to only users who have generated a certain number of images. Now, whether you are a registered user or not, you can experience the fun of AI image generation on this new platform.
According to David Holtz, co-founder and CEO of Midjourney, new users can generate about 25 images for free. This is a great opportunity for both new and existing users to explore the platform's features without any financial burden.
How to get started with the web version of Midjourney
The registration process is simple, and users can choose to register with either a Google account or a Discord account, a dual registration method designed to make it easy for more people to get started. Once logged in, users can then enter a description in the text box at the top of the page to generate four images.
Users can also adjust the aspect ratio of the images by clicking on the Settings button on the right to control the strength of the wind, the degree of random generation, and the variability between the four images.
On the left side of the site is another column that allows users to navigate to different parts of the site outside of the image creator and editor, including an "Organization" tab for viewing all of a user's previously generated images, and a "Chat" tab for discussing image generation with other users to discuss image generation.
For existing users, it is recommended to use a Discord account when logging in to Midjourney's website, so as to preserve the history of images previously generated in Discord. The platform also offers the ability to merge your Discord and Google accounts, making it more flexible for future use.
With the opening of Midjourney, it is expected to attract users from all levels, from casual creators to more specialized artists, enhancing the platform's user base and interaction.
