Pindrop The company announced the launch of Pulse InspectPulse Inspect is a web-based tool capable of detecting AI-generated speech in any digital audio or video file with a high accuracy rate of 99%. Part of the Pindrop Pulse product suite, Pulse Inspect features the ability to recognize audio generated by a variety of tools or AI models, which is a fairly unique feature in the industry, as most AI vendors typically only develop classifiers capable of detecting content generated by their own tools.
Pulse Inspect, which is currently in preview, is designed for organizations looking to address the risk of audio forgery at scale, and Pindrop's CEO, Vijay Balasubramaniyan, said they may also introduce more affordable pricing plans based on market demand, targeting some consumers who need testing occasionally.
With the rise of text-generating AI systems, audio forgery has become more prevalent. Some popular generative AI tools, such as those from Microsoft and ElevenLabs, have been utilized to mimic the audio and video of celebrities, businesspeople, and politicians, which has led to widespread misinformation and scams that have impacted their public image.An internal report by Pindrop revealed that more than 12 million U.S. adults are aware of someone who has created forged without consent content without consent.
Pulse Inspect's core functionality is a web app that allows users to simply upload suspicious audio files to obtain a "fake score" in seconds and display sections containing AI-generated speech. This rapid feedback can help organizations take proactive steps to prevent the spread of false information and maintain brand reputation.
Pindrop says their deep forgery detection model has been trained with over 350 forgery generation tools, 20 million unique utterances, and over 40 languages, which has resulted in an accuracy rate of 99% in detecting forged audio. in addition, Pulse Inspect recognizes mixed media files containing both AI-generated and real elements.
Pulse Inspect is not limited to vendor-specific inspections, and is able to cover more than 350 generation tools.Pindrop currently targets media companies, nonprofits, government agencies, celebrity management companies, law firms, and social media networks. In addition to the web application, Pulse Inspect can be integrated into customized forensic workflows via an API to support batch usage.
In the future, Pindrop plans to further the interpretability of the Pulse product suite, aiming to implement the ability to trace back to the source of forged content generation and to support a wider range of media types.
