Musk and xAI have yet to release details about the model. In March, Musk said that Grok 2 would outperform the current generation of AI models "on all metrics".
The Grok 2 release will be followed by Grok 3, which Musk previously said would be available around the end of the year. He said that xAI has been training Grok 3 and that the model will be "at or beyond" the level of the yet-to-be-released OpenAI GPT-5, which is considered the next big breakthrough in large language modeling.
The first version of Grok was released in November 2023, when Musk had just founded xAI to compete with OpenAI. xAI has since raised $6 billion and is valued at $24 billion (IT Home note: currently around RMB 172.19 billion).
