Musk has emphasized in public several times over time that Tesla is an AI company, though that changed after Musk founded his new AI startup xAI last year.

IT House reported in June that a group of Tesla investors sued Musk, Tesla Inc. and members of its board of directors, alleging that Musk had harmed Tesla by diverting resources from Tesla to his artificial intelligence startup xAI.

The lawsuit claims that the diverted resources included poaching AI employees from Tesla, transferring Tesla's microchips to X (Twitter) and xAI, and that xAI also used Tesla's data to develop its own software/hardware, yet Tesla was not compensated for it.

The source checked employee information on the LinkedIn platform and found that Musk's xAI company poached more than a dozen former Tesla employees.
