GoogleNBCUniversal has become the “Official AI Sponsor of Team USA,” something you’ll see a lot when live broadcasts of the 2024 Olympics begin on July 26. NBCUniversal’s partnership with Google will highlight the company’s many AI-based capabilities during the event.
The livestream will include 3D Google Maps views of venues such as the Palace of Versailles, the Roland Garros Stadium and the Aquatic Centre, as well as details about the events that will take place at each location. The imagery builds on the immersive views that Google Maps has added in recent years, which render certain landmarks and areas of interest with realistic models.
As part of a deal to promote Gemini and Google's other AI tools, commentators will attempt to answer Olympic and Paralympic questions, mentioned during broadcast segments by way of an overview of Google Search AI.
Elsewhere, comedian Leslie Jones will ask Gemini to help her learn a new sport, and five Olympic and Paralympic athletes will appear in "social videos and late-night campaigns" exploring Paris using Gemini, Google Lens, Circle to Search, and Google Maps immersive view.
