AnthropicRecently announced withVenture Capital FirmsMenlo Ventures to jointly establish a fund called Anthology FundfundThe fund, which totals $100 million, is designed to support the next generation of artificial intelligence startups. Under the plan, each eligible startup will receive an investment of at least $100,000, and will also receive additional support and resources from Anthropic and Menlo Ventures.
“Through our partnership with Menlo Ventures and the Anthology Fund, we hope to accelerate the development of breakthrough applications that leverage AI to enhance human capabilities and productivity in areas such as healthcare, legal services, education, energy, infrastructure, and scientific research,” Anthropic President Daniela Amodei said in a statement. “We look forward to working closely with the exceptional founders of these funds backed by Menlo Ventures to push the boundaries of innovation in AI applications,” she added.
In addition, Anthropic does not require fund beneficiaries to use its competitor Claude, although Claude's latest version 3.5 was released last month. The fund also provides a variety of other value-added benefits, including expert support, guidance, developer relations support, and network connections with other artificial intelligence companies, regular meetings, etc.
This move is similar to the OpenAI Startup Fund established by OpenAI, which has $175 million to support artificial intelligence startups. The overall development trajectory of the two companies is very similar. Anthropic has received billions of dollars in investment from Amazon, while OpenAI has received a huge investment from Microsoft.
