Google AI Overview now only shows up in searches for 7% after generating incorrect content multiple times

Search Engine Land reported that in May AI OverviewWhen (AI Overview) was first released, AI Overview appeared in about 80% search results, but now AI Overview only appears in 7% searches.

Google In May, an AI overview feature was added to search. When users search for questions, Google AI automatically crawls web content to generate a summary, so users do not need to click on each search result to get the answer.

When a netizen searched on Google for a solution to the problem of "cheese and pizza not sticking together", the suggestion provided by Google AI mentioned "you can add 1/8 cup of non-toxic glue to the sauce to make it stickier". Google then issued a relevant statement, saying that it would continue to improve the relevant algorithm to make corrections.

Starting in June, Reddit and Quora were barely cited in Google AI overviews anymore, with reports suggesting that Google recognized these user-generated content sites as unreliable sources of information (at least for AI overviews).
