Smart Feeder Bird Buddy Recently announced an update called "Nature Intelligence" brings a series of new features to users. After the upgrade, Bird Buddy can not only identify the species of birds visiting the feeder, but also use artificial intelligence image recognition technology toIdentify and name individual birds, making bird watching more interesting.
Bird Buddy calls this feature “non-invasive bird tagging.” While traditional bird tagging requires attaching a tracker to the bird’s legs, Bird Buddy relies on its feeder’s built-in 5MP HD camera and AI Image Recognition Technology,Distinguish different individuals by identifying detailed features of birds“The Bird Buddy feeder’s high-resolution sensors and close-up capabilities allow users to clearly observe the characteristics of visiting birds, making it ideal for this feature,” CEO Franci Zidar said in a press release.
For example, users can now easily identify blue jays that visit their backyards and learn how often each bird visits. However, it remains to be seen how effective this feature is, as it is still in the testing phase and is limited to identifying birds that land on the feeder.
The "Nature Intelligence" update also brings more practical features. For example, when the feeder detects sick or injured birds, it will remind users in time to help them recover. In addition, Bird Buddy's recognition range has been expanded to butterflies, bees, lizards, raccoons, squirrels, and even pet cats and dogs. In this way, users can decide whether to adjust the position of the feeder based on the little guys who patronize the feeder to avoid uninvited guests.
The “Nature Intelligence” update and the “Nature Connected Home” feature (which streams video and sounds around the feeder to smart home devices) are available as part of the Bird Buddy Pro subscription service, which starts at $5.99 per month (currently about RMB 44). The feeder itself costs $239 (currently about RMB 1,737).
