recently,AmazonAnnounced with AIStartupsAdeptAmazon has signed a licensing agreement with Adept, a leading AI company that helps companies build artificial intelligence (AI) systems.
According to Geekwire, Adept co-founder and CEO David Luan will join Amazon, along with other co-founders Augustus Odena, Maxwell Nye, Erich Elsen, and Kelsey Szot. Adept will not shut down, though, and engineering head Zach Brock will take over as CEO as the company refocuses on "agent-enabled AI solutions."

Adept said in its official blog that it will continue to build useful general intelligence and enterprise agent products using its advanced AI models, agent data, network interaction software and custom infrastructure. The deal brings new life to Adept, which had previously been in talks with Meta and Microsoft about a potential acquisition.
Amazon has gained key talent and technology through this transaction. David Luan will work under the leadership of Rohit Prasad, the former head of Alexa and now leading the new AGI team. Prasad said that the expertise of the Adept team is consistent with Amazon's vision of serving consumers and enterprise customers with practical AI solutions.
Adept was founded two years ago with the goal of creating an AI model that can perform actions on any software tool using natural language. Despite operational challenges and fierce market competition, Adept has raised more than $415 million in funding and is valued at approximately $1 billion. This partnership with Amazon may help Adept overcome challenges and commercialize its AI agent technology.
As competition in the AI agent market intensifies, Amazon's acquisition could bring a turnaround for Adept and support Amazon's ambitions in the AI field. The attitude of regulators towards such talent and technology acquisitions remains unclear, but no matter what the outcome, this partnership will have a profound impact on the AI industry.
