According to the Wall Street Journal,appleand Meta Platforms discussed collaboration on artificial intelligence.
Meta, Facebook's parent company, has discussed with Apple about integrating Meta's generative AI models into its recently released Apple Intelligence for iPhone and other devices.
In addition to Google and Meta, artificial intelligence startups Anthropic and Perplexity have also been in talks with Apple, hoping to introduce their generative artificial intelligence into Apple's intelligent system, the report said.
Apple announced Apple Intelligence at WWDC24 held this month, which will introduce a series of AI features for devices such as iPhone and Mac.
Subsequently, Apple's machine learning official website announced detailed information about Apple Intelligence:
Local model: A language model with about 3 billion parameters on the device, which scores higher than many open source models with 7 billion parameters (Mistral-7B or Gemma-7B);
Cloud Model: A larger cloud-based language model that can be run on Apple chip servers through private cloud computing.
According to Apple, “Apple Intelligence is deeply integrated into iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia, making full use of Apple chips’ ability to understand and create language and images, making a variety of cross-App operations, while combining personal scenarios to simplify and speed up daily task processes for users. In addition, Apple has set a new standard for AI privacy features, and can flexibly configure and expand computing resources between device-side processes and larger, server-based models equipped with Apple chips.”
