ChatLawDeveloped by a team under the guidance of Prof. Yuan Rong from Shenzhen Institute of Information Engineering, Peking University, the goal is to build an efficient AI Big Model for Chinese legal conversations. The project utilized a large amount of law-related data, including legal news, forums, legal articles, judicial interpretations, consultations, exam questions, and judgment documents, and in this way trained several different versions of the legal big model.
These models include ChatLaw-13B trained on Jiang Ziya-LLaMA-13B-v1, and ChatLaw-33B trained on Anima-33B.ChatLaw-13B performs well on simple legal tasks, while ChatLaw-33B performs better on complex logical reasoning tasks. In addition, ChatLaw provides a BERT-based similarity matching model, ChatLaw-Text2Vec, which intelligently matches users' questions with the corresponding legal texts.

1. Legal Advisory Dialogue Capacity
One of ChatLaw's core functions is to provide legal counseling services. Users can enter their legal questions through a simple dialog, and ChatLaw is able to understand the core of the question and provide relevant legal information and advice. In testing, the ChatLaw-13B version performed well when dealing with standard legal counseling questions, giving quick and accurate citations and explanations of the law. However, when faced with complex problems requiring deep logical reasoning, the version sometimes appeared to lack depth.

In the review, ChatLaw-33B was able to provide more detailed legal analysis and possible verdicts based on the given case situation. 3. Matching of similarity of legal texts
The ChatLaw-Text2Vec model provides a unique feature known as law similarity matching. This feature allows the user to enter a specific legal question, and the system will automatically match the most relevant laws and judicial interpretations. This feature has been shown to be highly efficient and accurate in practice, and is particularly useful for users who need to find specific legal texts quickly.
4. Multilingual support and cross-cultural adaptation
Although ChatLaw is primarily aimed at Chinese-speaking users, it also demonstrates a degree of multilingual support. In the evaluation, ChatLaw was also able to provide reasonable answers when dealing with legal questions containing English terminology. This has potential application value for international legal practice and cross-cultural legal education.

ChatLaw's user interface is simple and intuitive, making it easy for users to use even without a technical background. The interaction design takes into account the different needs of users and provides a variety of interaction methods, including text input and voice recognition. In the evaluation, users reported a high level of satisfaction, especially in terms of system responsiveness and ease of use.
